Formed in 1991, Thanet and District Quilters is the umbrella organisation
for all the patchwork and quilting groups in the Thanet area of
East Kent.
With a membership of around 100, we meet three times a year at
Church House in Birchington. Meetings are informal and friendly
and open to everyone who enjoys the art of patchwork and quilting.
We have a regular programme of national and international speakers
and most meetings include a "show and tell" session for
members' work, stalls by reliable traders and a "library"
with the latest books and instructive DVD's.
Our regular newsletter has contributions from members and is full
of useful information about forthcoming events and future programmes.
We also have an on-going programme of quilt making for charities
and good causes. All members take part by contributing blocks made
in their groups and every year we present a chosen charity with
some outstanding quilts for auction or raffle. We also have days
when members are invited to get together and sew for other local
charities. These days are full of fun and good food! And there's
a great sense of achievement when we hand over our lovely quilts
at our next meeting.
