Viking Quilters was started by a group of ladies in the
early '90s. Early meetings were held in a small hall in Birchington.
Growing numbers forced a move to a bigger venue, the Wilsons Hall
in Ramsgate. A year later, they were on the move again ... to their
present home in the Village Hall at Manston.
Members recall that the Manston Hall was pretty basic when they
first used it but, over the years, it has been greatly improved,
helped in part by the quilt group's support towards the cost of
refurbishment.
The group has mounted two very successful Quilt Exhibitions and
have also provided donations to local charities. Members' monthly subscriptions (currently £10) enable the
group to provide a lively programme of subsidised activities, including
UFO days and workshops, coach outings and even the Christmas lunch.
