Quex Quilters was formed in 1989 thanks to the encouragement of founder members, including Eileen Radford and Alex La Croix. Sadly both have since moved to France but keep in touch with the group and follow the activities of the members. Originally the Group grew to 25 in number, but then about half the members decided to break away and form Village Patchers who meet in the afternoons. There are currently twelve members meeting every Tuesday evening at Church House, Birchington. We are a very enthusiastic group and since 2006 have been undertaking group quilts (or wall hangings) which we raffle amongst ourselves in order that each member will eventually own a quilt produced by fellow members. Currently we are on our sixth project " Jewel Box" which will be raffled soon. Connie Wall heads our group and works tirelessly to keep us “up to scratch”. The last group project was a stall at the Christmas Meeting of Thanet Quilters. Members contributed many items for sale and we had a very successful evening. ( 05/09 )
