Dandelyon Patchers Group

Dandelyon Patchers initial meetings were held in members' houses. Growing numbers meant that they needed a bigger venue and they moved into St James Church Hall at Garlinge on 19 January 1995. The "Dandelyon" name has a local historical connection.

The group meets twice a month and members say they are "keen to try anything". Although not a teaching group, they are happy to provide advice and help for novice patchworkers if needed.

The group has made small quilts for a Special Baby Care Unit and a number of their larger projects have been raffled to raise funds for charities including the Westbrook Day Hospital, Demelza House children's hospice, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital's Cancer Care, Kent Air Ambulance and Animal Welfare.

Members have also staged a public exhibition of their work which they reckon involved much hard work but proved a great success.

Where we meet: St James Church, Garlinge.

When we meet: First and third Thursday of each month, 2pm - 4.30pm.

Sun Bonnet Sue and Fisherman Fred. Members of the Dandelyon Patchers group used these two character patterns to create blocks for a charity quilt. The finished quilt was donated to the local RSPCA branch to raise funds through a raffle.
